10 Years ago Today- Oct 12, 2000

I was just starting high school, the Navy wasn't even a blip on my radar on where I wanted my life to go. In Feb, 2006 I joined the US Navy and soon learned of this tragic event.  This is the same type of destroyer that I served on and went on deployment. Please watch and say a prayer for those who have lost their lives and for those of us who still fight for YOUR FREEDOM. On October 12, 2000 USS Cole was bombed during an unscheduled refueling. And to show our strength Just 3 years after the bombing USS Cole shifted colors and went underway for an overseas Deployment and returned to Homeport Norfolk in May 2004 without any incident.
